Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit - Ohio's Tax Incentive for Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings
This Week's Quote:
Every day may not be good... but there's something good in every day.
-Alice Morse Earle, American Historian
One hears much about the federal income tax credit available for rehabilitation of historical structures. Fewer know that Ohio also has such a credit. The federal and state credits may help finance the rehab of historic structures. As with most government transactions, “red tape” is involved. But, should be well worth the effort.
The below information came from the State of Ohio’s website. Further information is also available on their website and other sources.

The Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit (OHPTC) is administered by the Ohio Department of Development in partnership with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and the Ohio Department of Taxation. Applications are accepted in two rounds per year, in March and September. This competitive program provides a state income tax credit of up to 25% of qualified rehabilitation expenditures for the rehabilitation of historic buildings.
